Receives the “Leading Multidisciplinary Education Group of the Year – Maharashtra” award

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 31: Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) has been honoured with the “Leading Multidisciplinary Education Group of the Year – Maharashtra” award at the India@2047 Leadership, Innovation & Global Power Summit & Awards, held at IIT Delhi on August 20, 2026. Smt. Vishakha Bhujbal received the award on behalf of MET from none other than Member of Parliament and noted author-diplomat Dr Shashi Tharoor, marking the institution’s continued recognition for excellence in delivering multidisciplinary education.

Dr Shashi Tharoor, who graced the event as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, addressed the audience on the urgency of aligning India’s institutions – educational, corporate, and governmental – with the country’s long-term global ambitions. MET’s recognition at this summit places the institution among organisations acknowledged for contributing meaningfully to this national conversation, reaffirming its leadership in delivering multidisciplinary, industry-aligned education across its League of Colleges. The award adds to MET’s growing list of accolades recognising its contribution to shaping industry-ready, future-focused education in Maharashtra and beyond.

Speaking on the recognition, Mr Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, MET, said, “This award is a proud moment for our entire institution. It reaffirms our conviction that multidisciplinary, industry-aligned education is the way forward for India’s youth. Being recognised on a platform that is shaping conversations around India’s journey to 2047 reminds us of the responsibility educational institutions carry in nation-building, and we remain committed to that vision.”

Mrs Vishakha Bhujbal, Senior Management Representative, MET, added, “To receive this award from Dr. Shashi Tharoor, at a summit focused on India’s future, is deeply meaningful. It reflects the collective effort of our faculty, students, and leadership in building an ecosystem of learning that is future-ready and rooted in real-world relevance. We see this recognition as encouragement to keep innovating across our League of Colleges.”

The India@2047 Summit brought together leaders from corporate, academic, and policy circles to deliberate on India’s roadmap as the nation approaches the centenary of its independence in 2047. Hosted at IIT Delhi, one of the country’s premier institutions for science and technology, the summit served as a platform for cross-sector dialogue on the reforms, innovation, and institution-building required to position India among the world’s leading economies and knowledge powers over the next two decades. Discussions at the summit spanned emerging technology, education reform, entrepreneurship, and India’s evolving role in global diplomacy.
