Gallery Silver Scapes proudly presents HARMONY, an exclusive art exhibition featuring the works of Anita Roy Chowdhury, alongside modern masters such as Bimal Das Gupta, Ram Gopal Vijayvargiya, Ghulam Rasool Santosh, Francis Newton Souza, Jatin Das and Krishen Khanna, as well as contemporary artists like Thota Vaikuntam, Vinod Sharma, Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharjee, Ranbir Kaleka, Chandra Bhattacharjee, and Manu Parekh. This monumental event celebrates the amalgamation of artistic legacies, showcasing the works of pioneering masters alongside innovative contemporary voices.

Scheduled to take place from March 15 to March 20, 2025, at Bikaner House, LTC Hall, New Delhi, “HARMONY” promises to be a spectacular showcase of artistic excellence, with Anita Roy Chowdhury’s remarkable works taking center stage.

Anita Roy Chowdhury’s art is a testament to her innovative approach, blending traditional Indian aesthetics with modernist techniques. Her work is characterized by extraordinary mastery, evident in her expressive and unique chromatic symphony that comes alive on her canvases. With a profound understanding of the natural world, Anita weaves intricate visual poetry, evoking profound emotional responses and resonating with viewers on philosophical and spiritual levels.

This grand event is a celebration of Anita’s pioneering spirit, which has inspired generations of artists and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.Vikram Mayor, Art Director of Gallery Silver Scapes, notes,“Anita Roy Chowdhury was a visionary, paving the way for future generations as one of India’s first women abstractionists. Her art was not only a reflection of her inner world but also a nuanced commentary on the social fabric of her time. With subtlety and finesse, she wove together threads of introspection and social critique, creating a body of work that was both deeply personal and profoundly impactful.”

Anita’s artistic journey began in a creatively rich family environment, where she was nurtured from an early age to explore her artistic inclinations. She received her formal training at the prestigious Government College of Art & Crafts in Kolkata, honing her craft under the mentorship of renowned artists such as Satyen Ghosal and Gopal Ghosh. During this time, Anita was inspired by a vibrant community of contemporary artists, including luminaries like Dhiraj Choudhury and Jogen Chowdhury.

Anita’s early work was deeply influenced by her Indian heritage, yet she continuously sought to blend traditional elements with modernist sensibilities. Over time, her style evolved, weaving spiritual motifs and Indian mythology —such as the lotus flower and Om mantra—into her work, reflecting her growing interest in the metaphysical aspects of life. The result is an oeuvre that transcends mere visual representation, becoming a reflection of the complexities of human existence.

Her career spans major exhibitions across India and globally, from Kolkata’s AFA and Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai to prestigious galleries in New York, London, and Paris. Her art has consistently captivated both Indian and international audiences, establishing her as a prominent figure in the global art scene.

HARMONY is more than just an exhibition—it’s a dialogue between the past and the present, where the strokes of legendary artists resonate alongside the fresh perspectives of today’s visionaries. The curation aims to highlight how contemporary art emerges from the strong foundations laid by pioneering masters, redefining artistic narratives while paying homage to tradition.

Join us in experiencing this captivating convergence of artistic legacies and contemporary ingenuity.
